The Fallen Angels of Gotham Reading

with Gotham Nomads
Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm
No fee.

In January 2006, a little girl of seven years old had her life cut short after unthinkable physical and emotional suffering at the hand of her mother and stepfather. Her life ended at 4:30 a.m. when the 7-year-old's battered body was found in her Brooklyn "home of horrors." The second-grader had been bound to a chair, tortured, sexually molested and starved for weeks before being killed by a savage blow to the head. In this day and age this doesn't even seem possible does it? Distracted by so many other world issues do we sometimes forget about the struggles of our little ones? Gotham Nomads is a group of Brooklyn based writers, dancers, film makers, photographers and painters, who decided to take action. With the Fallen Angels Of Gotham Reading, we will exhibit art and read material inspired by the loss of our little angels. Please come join us and hear how a wild bunch of Brooklyn artist came together to raise awareness for the children in foster care of Gotham removed from their homes due to child abuse. 100% of the proceeds will go to Youth At Risk who have done phenomenal work with specific programs that work with: battered women, teen mothers, teen fathers and young boys whose fathers are not in the home.
